Practice Areas

The law firm of Smith and Dine, P.A. offers legal representation in the following eight practice areas:

Civil Litigation:  We represent plaintiffs or defendants in civil litigation cases, including contract disputes, negligence cases, defamation matters, and probate controversies.

Personal Injury:  We represent people wrongly injured from another's negligence, such as in car accidents, dog bites, and medical malpractice cases.

Bankruptcy:  When your debts have reached the point where they are no longer manageable, it might be time to consider bankruptcy.  If your home is upside-down, you may be able to remove second mortgages from your property.  Bankruptcy can stop collection agents from calling, discharge credit card and medical debts, stop garnishments, and remove liability from foreclosures or judgments.

Real Estate:  Selling a home, buying a home, or leasing a home, we can help with every step of the way and act as your counselor and/or your closing agent, and issue title insurance on the transaction.

Loan Modification / Short Sale Negotiation:  If your home is upside-down and if you are struggling with the payments, you may wish to consider seeking a modification of your loan to lower the monthly payments.  Or, if it is time to sell your home, we can help negotiate with the lender(s) to permit the sale for less than the amount owed.

Estate Planning:  We can prepare your will, trust, power of attorney, health care surrogate form, living will, and a host of other estate planning documents.

Elder Law:  As a loved one grows older and has insufficient financial resources to live in a nursing home or assisted living facility, it may be necessary to plan ahead with a Medicaid Spenddown program to enable access to valuable government resources.

Guardianship &  Probate:  When a loved one can no longer mange his or her own affairs, you may wish to consider a guardianship proceeding to enable another to handle those affairs.  When a loved one passes away, it may be necessary to open a probate case to administer the decedent's assets.
